Grubb Road/Smithton Grove Traffic Lights
Libby Cocker anounces a $2.7million increase to the $5milliion funding previously granted for Grubb Road and Smithton Grove Traffic Lights and Safety Upgrade. The $7.7 million dollar upgradeis much needed, and long overdue.
In late 2018, the OGCA rallied more than 80 community members to participate in a workshop to provide feedback about the current and future needs of Grubb Road between Bellarine Highway and The Parade, Ocean Grove.
This work will improve safety, capacity and traffic flow at the intersection of Grubb Road and Smithton Grove in Ocean Grove.
The new traffic lights will make turning in and out of the industrial estate safer and more efficient and provide a safer, more predictable environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
This Safety upgrade will:
- Install new traffic lights, to better control the movement of vehicles
- Install new dedicated turning lanes to create separation between traffic movements and improve traffic flow on Grubb Road
- Install pedestrian operated crossings on Grubb Road and Smithton Grove install a new traffic
- Upgrade street lighting to improve visibility for all road users at the intersection
- Island and line-markings at the entry/exit of the service lane between Smithton Grove and Adco Grove, to make it easier to navigate.
- Install new bus bays on both sides of Grubb Road
- install a new footpath for pedestrians to easily access the new bus bays.
The improvements have also been designed to complement future growth and development along Grubb Road, including increased traffic volumes and allowing for future pedestrian and cyclist connections.
Watermain relocation works are being undertaken from 8 October 2024, along Grubb Road, between Adco Grove and north of Smithton Grove, for approximately six weeks to get this project underway, including temporary closure of Smithton Grove entrance from Grubb Rd.
